While it is easy to pick on the ultra rich, it can be rationally argued that Jeff Bezos, Carl Icahn, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates etc are better and more disciplined in capital allocation than the US government as a whole. They are part of the reason why are economy has grown. Amazon is something that most of us are happy with as consumers. If we don't like it, we can choose something else.

One thing that isn't mentioned above is how much the ultra rich donate to charity which is of course a deduction. Another element that isn't mentioned above is the rich can and do move. They can move from Cali to Texas...they can also move to Singapore. Lastly, when some programs are put in place to get the ultra rich, they will find a way around it, as noted in the article....they are going to have smarter, more sophisticated ways to get around things and stick in loop holes. And the upper middle class which already pays a disproportionate burden will get stuck with the tab.
